The new Captain takes in charge, Faf du Plessis, ahead of Virat Kohli. Du Plessis and Anuj Rawat are at the crease, and Sandeep Sharma opens the bowling attack. Arshdeep Singh bowls five wides to start his spell in the second over. After two overs, RCB were 12/0. The mighty West Indies player, Odean Smith, bowled the economic third over while giving only two runs.
At the end of the powerplay, RCB were 41/0. Rahul Chahar, who was previously played for Mumbai Indians, attacked and bowled Anuj Rawat for 21 runs. RCB were 50/1, which brings Virat Kohli into the crease. Punjab Kings struggled to get the next wicket till the 18th over. That’s out; Du Plessis gets out after the Captain’s knock of 88 runs in 57 balls. Dinesh Karthik comes to crease and blasts. At the end of 20 overs, RCB were 205/2, with Dinesh Karthik scoring 32 runs and 14 balls and Virat Kohli scoring 41 in 29 balls.
PBKS Batting
Punjab Kings opens the IPL 2022 with the new Captain Mayank Agarwal. Mayank and Dhawan come to the crease, with Willey opening the bowling attack for the RCB. The promising start by the openers led Punjab Kings to get 63/0 after the power play.
The star pick player of RCB, Wanindu Hasaranga, a leggie from Sri Lanka, comes to the bowling attack and picks up the wicket of Captain Mayank on his first ball. His co-player, Bhanuka Rajapaksa from Sri Lanka, comes to the crease as an opponent batsman for RCB. He smashes the ball outside the park; at the end of 10 overs, PBKS were 97/1.
The fuming Harshal Patel comes to the bowling attack and picks up the wicket of Dhawan, which leads to the most valuable player of PBKS, Liam Livingstone, coming to the crease. Rajapaksa, who was playing well by getting 43 runs from 21 balls, gets out to Siraj in 14th over, leading the under 19 World Champion team boy, Raj Bawa, into the batting attack.
The poor boy gets out plum in front of the wicket, “That’s Out”, LBW. Mayank patted the boy on the head when he entered the dugout, a true captain’s gesture. The powerful hitter from Tamilnadu, Shahrukh Khan, had a very successful domestic circuit in the current year, was picked up by PBKS management to strengthen the middle order.
The most valuable player, Livingstone, gets out to the talented Akash Deep after scoring 19 runs in 10 balls. The mighty Odean Smith, an allrounder from West Indies, can bowl around 145-150Kmph. Hasaranga, who tried to control the batting at the end of his 4th over, picks a wicket with the bowling figure of 4/40. Odean Smith proves his might by continuously putting the ball out of the park.
At the end of the 18th over, 25 runs were scored in Siraj’s bowling, putting PBKS in a comfortable winning position. The fuming Harshal Patel could not stop the batting attack of Shahrukh Khan and Odean Smith, which ended the match on a winning note for Punjab Kings.

The RCB new Captain’s effort to play a significant knock and give a massive total for the team did not stop the Punjab Kings’ comfortable five wickets win. The promising players for PBKS were Odean Smith, Shahrukh Khan, Rajapaksa; Livingstone should keep up his standards in the next match. The exemplary players for RCB were Hasaranga, Siraj, du Plessis, while Willey has to create an impact in the upcoming games.
