THE SYMBOL DAWN

The Symbol DawnFirst canto of Savitri.

There are two perspectives present; one is like the Kingfisher’s view, which sees only one thing at a time from one side.

The second one is the perspective of the eagle. It observes from the top; it watches the whole thing.

Likewise, this Savitri is written from the point of Supramental consciousness by Sri Aurobindo.

It is not just a typical story/poetry but a yogic book similar to the Veda.

You can see one perspective and outline of cantos in this article and forthcoming articles.

This is not a review, just a simple outline and some glimpses of the legend, and this is entirely an individual point of view.

One can read and understand Savitri always; there is no end to it because every single time you read this book; you will get a very new perception to see things.

This canto 1 begins with the darkness like our life; it was the hour before the Gods awake.

If you have the habit of waking up before sunrise, you could have experienced this.

It has deep silence; it appears to be preparing for someone’s arrival, isn’t it? Here Sri Aurobindo explains the morning scene beautifully.

This Symbol Dawn refers to the Dawn that will occur in this story, this particular day when Satyavan must die.

Also, this is an indirect message to us, the conquest of light (Divinity) over the darkness (ignorance).

These Words- “Event”, “Night”, and “Silence” are capitalised because it refers to the Divine event.

He gives a new perspective of the Dawn and Events taking place during the Dawn.

He says it was like everything was placed in silence’s marge. Everything was opaque and impenetrable. Fathomless, zero was present all over.

The Earth was agitated, without energy, dissatisfied, recalling its tenebrous womb, confused over the mysterious birth cycles.

(Usually, Death is regarded as a mysterious thing; Sri Aurobindo here says that if the purpose of the birth is known, then there would be a solution for these endlessly repeated cycles.

Even though it is opaque and dark, something that wished and knew not teased the ignorance of inconscient.

Here we can see the description is for two things; one, for the Earth, which is still deep in its sleep without consciousness and secondly, our mind, which has forgotten itself that he is the divine and under the masks of ignorance and unconsciousness.

He also explains the mindless ignorant state of the Earth, which longs to overcome its sombre.

This Symbol Dawn explains the state of earthly nights and the unawakened state of our being.

We knew not our purpose in life, dark, without any emotions of satisfaction and hidden from the true state of divinity.

He says that we all are the sons of the divine, having the supreme quality to lead a Divine Life in this world but forgotten ourselves, fallen into the mysterious grips of Death, and the cycle is repeated.

In Book 1, Canto 1; Page 2 describes “AN EYE OF DEITY PEERED THROUGH THE DUMB DEEPS A SCOUT IN A RECONNAISSANCE FROM THE SUN.”

It is a beautiful morning scene where Sri Aurobindo symbolically tells us about the arrival of Savitri (Daughter of Sun).

THE SYMBOL DAWN - 3 min Easy read from SavitriOn seeing this painful, ignorant attitude, the Sakthi herself descends to guide us throughout the evolution of Man to the Superman.

These rays entering our Earth are said as a message from unknown immortal light and tell us the greatness of spiritual Dawns, The light that kindles us.

In Book 1, Canto 1; Page 6 describes “AND SAVITRI TOO AWOKE AMONG THESE TRIBES THAT HASTENED TO JOIN THE BRILLIANT SUMMONER’S CHANT AND LURED BY THE BEAUTY OF THE APPARENT WAYS”.

“And Savitri too awoke among these tribes,” this line tells us that the Earth is now awake, and Savitri too awoke with the common people.

The day started. The light was not for her because this was the day Satyavan must die.
