WHAT IS THE EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE?

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT) is commonly referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure. EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT) uses the fingertips to stimulate energy points in the body.

EFT points in the body

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT) works by tapping on the supposed paths through which “life energy” is believed to flow in the body (meridian points) to release blockages.

These specific pathways of energy or meridians help balance energy flow to maintain your health. The imbalance of energy flow can result in disease or sickness.

Tapping with the fingertips on these meridian points is believed to release the blockage, thus releasing the pain or distress.

Steps of EFTHOW DOES IT WORK

As with acupuncture and acupressure, tapping involves the body’s energy meridian points, a concept in Chinese medicine.

Proponents believe them to be areas of the body through which energy flows. In this theory, blocks or imbalances in the flow of energy lead to ill health.

According to EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT) advocates, tapping on these meridian points with the fingertips restores the balance of energy to resolve physical and emotional issues.

It can also work similarly to mindfulness, drawing a person’s attention to their body and breathing.

It may serve as a mental distraction from the issues that are causing anxiety or stress.

 

PROCEDURE

It would help if you concentrated on the negative emotion—fear or anxiety, a bad memory, an unresolved problem, or anything that’s disturbing you.

  • Before tapping, you need to establish a setup phrase that describes the current issue you are facing. The two primary goals you need to focus on are as follows:
  • Recognizing the issues
  • Accepting yourself despite the problems
  • your focus, use your fingertips to tap five to seven times each on nine of the body’s meridian points.
  • You tap on these meridian points while aiming at accepting and resolving the negative emotion. It will help repair any energy disruption.
  • Tapping sends signals directly to mid-brain stress centers, thus reducing the stress or negative emotion you get from your issue.
  • EFT would restore balance to your disrupted energy.
